The Minimalist Puppetry approach is a way to create puppetry images, characters and stories without the help of ready-made puppets, animated designs or objects adapted for this purpose. The simplicity of the method is that the creator is free to use any object or material and extract a maximum number of possible images from it. This unique method leads to the creation of a whole story, full of characters, visions, associations, thoughts and ideas. The technique would not be possible without first developing and using specific puppetry imagination – a way to see life, images and stories in everyday objects and materials. 
An example of this kind of imagination would be the story of two ends of a tablecloth falling in love with each other. Creativity of this sort has to be encouraged by guided exercises to shape and boost the creative impulses of the students, and lead them to the process of finding puppetry images within their collective ideas.
The Minimalist approach is also defined by the strict rule of using one single object, or one kind of material to develop a story or idea. The goal of this method is to expand creative thinking, see the emotional potential in the commonest of objects and materials, explore their multiple functions and meanings to create an entire story with a single object or material.
This kind of Minimalism broadens the scope of Puppetry rather than limiting it to the ready-made figures, adapted objects, and all other known visual designs that are already defined as puppets.
